What are cookies?

Cookies are data, in particular text files, stored on users’ end devices (such as a computer, telephone or tablet) sent via websites. These files allow the user’s device to be recognized and the website to be displayed correctly according to their individual preferences, they allow the website to be displayed in the user’s language “remembered” by these files, as well as the use of other website settings selected by consumer. Cookies usually contain the name of the website they come from, the storage time of the end device and a unique number.

What do we use cookies for?

Cookies are used to adapt the content of websites to the preferences and device of the user and to optimize the use of websites. These files allow you to save the user’s choices regarding language, browser, settings of selected elements of the website or the resignation of profiled ads, as well as save information about the user’s location.

Cookies are also used to make it easier for users to log in to their account, including through social media, and to enable navigation between subpages of websites without having to log in to each subpage again. At the same time, cookies are used to protect websites, for example to prevent access by unauthorized persons.

They are also used to create anonymous aggregate statistics that help to understand how a user uses websites, which allows for an improvement in their structure and content, with the exception of the user’s personal identification. Cookies also help to ensure the polishing and smooth operation of websites, including testing the effectiveness of the website.

Cookies are also used to identify the ads that the user has displayed and to display ads that are most relevant to the user’s activity on the website.

What cookies do we use?

In principle, there are two types of cookies – “session” and “permanent”. The first of these are temporary files that remain on the user’s device until you exit the website or turn off the software (web browser). The “permanent” files remain on the user’s device for the time specified in the cookie parameters, or until they are manually deleted by the user. Business – enable the application of the business model on the basis of which the website is provided; Blocking them will not make all functionalities inaccessible, but may reduce the level of service provision due to the inability of the website owner to generate revenue that subsidizes his work. This category includes, for example, advertising cookies.
